Why? What?
'Scribing - the concept - explained....
Why?
Before anyone else said it.
When it wasn’t cool, and I had to fight the views of the world. I started saying something.
That social media was the end of civilisation.
People are starting to say the same thing now. Finally.
We see it in the state of our children. The issues they now suffer.
The next generation will define the failures of the present.
But there is still room to write, I think.
And even better, to speak….
What?
I therefore write like I would speak.
Not just the written word.
The spoken word written.
Grammar, even spelling, might suffer.
Sometimes cryptic.
Even abstract – at times.
Philosophical. Controversial. Provocative. Experimental when I feel like it.
But there is meaning there. Sometimes deep. Sometimes shallow.
Sometimes lost. Aren’t we all sometimes?
But stick with it. Provoking thought, even if the meaning is illusive at first, is part of the point! Cheap thrills are cheap indeed – and no real thrill at all.
It will never compete with the world of social media.
But it might just be something still worth reading.
A new approach. A new style. I call it ‘scribing.1
Short for ‘transcribing’ – defined as “to put (thoughts, speech, or data) into written or printed form.” Something common to the Courtroom too – also a place of adventure for me.
